We are at the 3rd mutant you can fight in my game. Gerflux has a lot more HP than the other mutants, so to counter that you get access to some cool things on the map. The main thing here is the space ship. The ship stays in orbit of the planet while the players are collecting Ichor tokens. These tokens are placed in a space at the top of the map where they are sent to the ship. The Ichor serves an important part to killing Gerflux here though. The shallow waters you move through are heavily infected by this Ichor which jams your signals to the ship. At the bottom of the map you can see where colors change as the infection has cleared up. Players can move to these bottom spaces to make contact with the ship to fire a laser cannon down, attacking Gerflux. This means the Ichor you collect will be used for this, and the more Ichor in the chamber, the stronger the attack! There is also a pool of Ichor in the top right of the map where players can attempt to scoop up some to take over and place more in the chamber. Gerflux happens to be obsessed with eating the Ichor. It has caused it to grow to an abnormally large size, able to gulp up players in a single bite. When a player is devoured, they place their player token in the Intestine tract on Gerflux mutant board. From here you will have to roll some dice and see if you can climb your way back out through the mouth, or suffer the effects of falling through the back end, yuk. At the end of every round Gerflux will place Ichor tokens around it so the players have a chance to collect it for their ships laser. Gerflux is a very sick goat, its attack cards will often reflect that by hacking up random things. HACK will attack players across the entire map. Even if this attack misses you will end up with more Ichor to collect. GOBBLE is introduced when battling a level 2 Gerflux. Now when Gerlfux begins it's turn, you may find yourself in the belly of the beast! At level 3 another card is added to the attack deck called MOODY. This adds another way Gerflux can beat the living daylights out of you as you try to traverse around it. Events will be a gamble for the players as they must decide if they want to carry any Ichor tokens. By having a lot of Ichor on you, drawing the STARE event will be a great benefit as it gives you a chance to draw a gear card from the powerful Dimensional deck. On the other end though, drawing EAT could find yourself again be devoured! ILL is another event that if played correctly can give the players a nice breather if they play their cards right.
And that is the basics of this battle. Gerflux is a little more straight forward beat'em up battle compared to the other two, but this doesnt make it any easier to survive! After you kill Gerflux you can head back to Ernie's Lab to build some cool gear.
